I purchased this for our grandson to wear, our son in laws parents have a cottage on the lake, and I know how quickly kids can get to water when they want to, also our daughter and son in law have a yard fountain/pond in the ground it is a couple feet deep and I worry about that also. But I know it works cause our daughter said our grandson went by the fountain and just put his hand in and the alarm went off and was very loud. The only bad thing is that the watch band that holds it on his wrist broke the 2nd time it was used, Amazon replaced it immediately, but I could not find the right size band to fit it, in any local stores and we live in a big city.
