Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System | jellofart's blog

I purchased this product 5 months ago. As of this date, I have not completely installed it. While the installation can be simple, there are too many components to deal with. The tape that comes with it does not hold on all surfaces. I live in an apartment and did not wish to nail or screw in the components. To do so would mean, that I would have to leave the system as a part of the apartment unit. I do not wish to leave the system as it was costly.

After reading all the great reviews of this security system here on Amazon I decided to order it for my studio apartment. Unfortunately, I have not been able to set it up due to the fact that the screw on the back of the motion sensor is screwed down so tight I cannot get the back of the motion sensor off in order to put the battery inside. Due to this fact, trying to set up this security system has been an extremely frustrating experience.

This is a pretty good system for the price. My only beefs are:

1. Alarm is not loud enough. Perhaps ok for an apartment or if you live on a quiet street. I live on a busy street so I had to buy another one for each side of the house.

2. The dialer is probably useless since the phone lines can be cut. I would get the simpler system and get the 2nd alarm.

3. Change the zoning for the sensors right away so there is no delay. Think about it; during the delay the robbers can just locate the alarm and smash it before it goes off.

Slovak security sting too good

IRISH and Slovakian authorities have been embarrassed after a traveller unwittingly smuggled explosives on to a plane and later carried them undetected through Dublin Airport.

Unknown to the passenger returning to Dublin after the holidays, Slovakian officials had planted enough explosives to bring down a plane in his luggage as part of a security exercise.

Following a bomb disposal operation in Dublin yesterday, it emerged that 90 grams of the powerful RDX explosive found in the Slovakian migrant worker's Dublin apartment had passed through security at Bratislava and Dublin airports on Saturday.

Ireland's main opposition party, Fine Gael, last night demanded an investigation into why the explosives had not been detected in the Slovakian electrician's luggage.

Charlie Flanagan, the party's justice spokesman, said the security debacle raised serious questions.

''Why did the departments of Justice and Foreign Affairs not know about the sting operation where explosives were planted on an unsuspecting passenger arriving in Dublin Airport and remained undetected for over three days?'' he said.
