It’s going to be an exciting year as Twitter hacks such as this one appears. It’s a laser-tripped webcam that actually can tweet the photo taken to Twitter. I think this could serve as a great security device on the cheap.
It requires a bit of hacking though, looks like an Arduino, Linux, and bunch of programming, not for the faint-hearted indeed.

At first glance, the VAIO W Series Eco is sleekly designed netbook. It measures 7.07 by 10.54 by 1.08/2 inches (HWD) and weighs 2.93 pounds with a standard battery. The lid and trim are white, with green/grey accents on the palmrest where the keyboard and mouse button reside. One feature I thought was cool and noteworthy was the fact that 23% of the plastic chassis is made of recycled CDs (now we know what Sony is doing with those unsold music discs). Rather than a cardboard box, the VAIO W-Eco comes in a carrying case made from recycled PET bottles. Lastly, the system is RoHS-, Energy Star 5.0-, and EPEAT Gold-compliant. So, kudos to Sony on the eco front.
The netbook's palmrest has a textured surface, though the touchpad is smooth. I would have preferred the touchpad to be textured as well, since I sometimes have difficulty navigating the cursor with my fingers on a smooth surface.
The VAIO W Eco sports a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,366 by 768 resolution. It also comes with a multimedia card reader and built-in Webcam, There are 2 USB 2.0 ports, which is pretty common for a netbook of this size, but I really would have liked to have seen 3 USB 2.0 ports instead. It also has an Ethernet port and a VGA port. In terms of wireless functionality, the W Eco has both 802.11n and Bluetooth built-in. No word on the actual size of the battery, but Sony is claiming up to 7 hours of use on a single charge.
