In an interview with , Manohar Bidaye, Chairman, Zicom Electronic Security Systems spoke about the latest happenings in his company and sector.
Q: The market is very excited about the prospect of you winning a large Commonwealth Games order. Can you take us through whether you are bidding for it and how potentially big that could be?
A: We are working for a Common wealth order. In fact, the event is just one-year around the corner. We are working very closely with the government agencies to get a big chuck of this order.
Q: Could you take us through what the potential size of this could be in total and who else might be bidding for this Commonwealth order?
A: We see a multinational bidder coming in for the Commonwealth order. But basically, the size range between Rs 50-150 crore. It depends upon how much exposure budget government has reserved for that. But this budget could also increase substantially. It could go beyond Rs 150 crore.
Q: If you do get the order, how much would it add to your order book?
A: It will add to about 80-90% to our current order book. We have almost about Rs 200 crore as a consolidated order book in our company as on today. This will substantially add to our current order book position.
Q: What is the process and who else is in the fray for this Commonwealth games order?
A: This is naturally going to be the order, which will be bidded and it will undergo a process of tender. It is a normal tendering process. But we are very good and favourite on the matter for the simple reasons that we execute a lot of city surveillance projects, a similar nature of project in the country. So, almost out of the six city surveillance project, which came up in the country, we have closed five projects. So we have a good amount of experience of dealing with city surveillance. So that is our credential which will definitely play a big role in working on such big project.
Q: You made a small acquisition as well earlier a Dubai based company. Is business going okay over there? How much does that contribute to your order book?
